Finance Apprentice

Are you seeking a dynamic role in Finance that offers exceptional career growth opportunities?

We present an exciting chance for a Finance Apprentice, working closely with the Financial Manager in a rapidly expanding and successful cycling media organization.

The Finance team is dedicated to fostering your development and training, with potential for funded educational support, including study leave. We also provide apprenticeship programs. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals aiming for advancement in a finance career.

Joining Play Sports Network as a Finance Apprentice will grant you valuable experience and insight into the broader business operations. You will cultivate skills and knowledge across a diverse array of financial tasks; additionally, you will have the chance to contribute to process enhancements as the organization continues to evolve and grow in complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing business expense reports and communications
  • Processing E-Commerce transactions
  • Establishing new supplier accounts
  • Reconciling supplier statements and maintaining supplier communications
  • Handling purchase invoices, ensuring alignment with purchase orders, timely payments, and resolution of any queries
  • Generating sales ledger invoices, assisting with credit control, and nurturing customer relationships
  • Reconciling revenue streams and aligning costs
  • Addressing queries sent to the finance email address, ensuring timely responses
  • Assisting finance management with month-end procedures, including revenue recognition, cost analysis, and other financial entries
  • Supporting the Finance Manager in maintaining a consistent control environment
  • Assisting with year-end closing and audit processes
  • Carrying out other ad hoc tasks as needed

Qualifications and Skills for Success

  • Desire to begin or progress towards a finance qualification (e.g., AAT)
  • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within the finance team and across the organization
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Capability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Broad exposure to finance-related activities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in a media or business services setting
  • Familiarity with Sage software
  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Proactive and supportive attitude
  • Willingness to attend the office to fulfill duties and collaborate with the broader team
