Summary of the Role

We are partnering with a Financial Services organization seeking a Senior Data Protection Specialist Controller for a fixed-term contract position. This role is crucial due to the high demand for technical Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

The position involves a 50/50 split between two key functions:

  • Support Controller Team: Focuses on maintaining and enhancing our internal GDPR framework.
  • Migration Team: Works with onboarding new clients and identifying potential data protection risks associated with the process.
Responsibilities

As a Senior Data Protection Specialist Controller, you will:

  • Collaborate with the DP Manager to implement necessary support measures.
  • Assist the DP Manager in managing a range of technical DPIAs.
  • Support transformation activities and contribute to developing data protection strategies.
  • Develop and maintain BAU governance and processes.
  • Manage BAU operations by working with internal teams, HR, and procurement.
  • Represent the team in corporate projects to ensure GDPR/DP compliance.
  • Oversee, appoint, and conduct regular meetings with Data Champions in Shared Services, coordinating with the Data Champions Manager as needed.
  • Review DPIAs from shared services or regulatory Change teams and provide recommendations to the DP Manager and DPO.
  • Conduct audits to ensure shared services functions comply with UK GDPR where relevant.
  • Provide advice and support to IT and Non-IT procurement teams to ensure compliance.
Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Is a credible influencer of management, capable of proposing and implementing compliance solutions with the right level of impact.
  • Can effectively represent their function at project meetings, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of UK GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018 and related privacy legislation.
