Job Overview
At McLaren Group, we are committed to achieving excellence in every aspect of our operations. Our focus extends beyond just performance on the track; it encompasses the well-being of our workforce, our business practices, and our partnerships. We strive to set the highest standards and continuously elevate our goals.
Role Objective:
This position is responsible for the execution of McLaren Group's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) strategy. Your responsibilities will include fostering internal employee education and engagement, implementing social enterprise initiatives, and influencing our industry to promote significant transformation. You will be an integral part of our Sustainability team, which oversees the strategy and execution of our ambitious objectives across four key Sustainability pillars: DE&I, Health and Wellbeing, Net Zero, and Circular Economy.
You will collaborate with various stakeholders within McLaren Group, as well as with our racing series, social enterprises, and educational institutions to deliver a variety of programs and initiatives. Internally, you will provide guidance to different teams to ensure that our culture, operational methods, policies, and employee experiences integrate DE&I at the core of McLaren Group. Additionally, you will lead the implementation of McLaren Group Engage, our flagship initiative aimed at diversifying the talent pool entering the motorsport sector, in partnership with the social enterprises that form the Engage Alliance.
Role Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Director of Sustainability.
- Spearhead the execution of our DE&I strategy within the team and collaborate with external partners to drive impactful change.
- Work alongside the broader Sustainability and People Team to design, implement, and ensure the effectiveness of our employee programs and initiatives.
- Supervise the Sustainability Associate.
Key Duties:
- Collaborate with our data and analytics teams to establish effective DE&I data collection, reporting, and analytical processes that enable data-driven, impactful programs and initiatives, including regular internal and external performance reporting.
- Provide expert DE&I knowledge and guidance throughout the McLaren Group employee journey, ensuring our policies and processes evolve in line with best practices.
- Partner with external DE&I stakeholders to embed inclusivity and accessibility into all policies and systems, ensuring intersectionality is considered across all project strands.
- Design and implement internal education and awareness programs that foster an inclusive and inspiring culture within our organization.
- Collaborate with our internal people networks to facilitate connections among like-minded colleagues and engage our workforce in key programs and outreach efforts.
- Serve as the primary contact for all STEM outreach initiatives, effectively coordinating with our STEM ambassador network to secure internal support and promote STEM and motorsport as accessible career paths for underrepresented groups.
- Work with our communications and events team to define and execute our awareness calendar throughout the year, utilizing key dates to enhance visibility of the DE&I agenda and educate our team.
- Lead the implementation of McLaren Group Engage - our Social Enterprise Collaboration - to diversify the talent pool entering motorsport from school age to experienced hires.
- Manage scholarship programs in collaboration with higher education institutions, overseeing relationship management and internal stakeholder engagement.
- Represent McLaren Group in Race Series DE&I working groups, influencing outcomes to drive meaningful impact and leading participation in relevant events and initiatives.
- Oversee the delivery of UK-based work experience programs.
- Supervise the work of the Sustainability Associate.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in a matrixed organization within the engineering or technology sectors.
- Proven track record in delivering a DE&I strategy across an organization, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Experience in implementing DE&I-focused policy and process changes throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Skilled in designing and delivering engaging DE&I education and training programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in DE&I best practices and comfort as a subject matter expert.
- Confident in delivering content engagingly, whether training colleagues, pitching strategies, or presenting to large audiences.
- Creative and innovative in managing multiple priorities in collaboration with teams and external partners.
- Strong project management skills, capable of transitioning from strategic thinking to operational details.
- Proactive in continuously improving work processes.
- Ability to engage, influence, and persuade stakeholders at all levels, adapting to their understanding of the DE&I agenda.
Personal Attributes:
- Comfortable navigating complexity and working at a fast pace.
- High-performance mindset and work ethic, dedicated to driving positive DE&I change within the motorsport industry.
- Creative and initiative-driven in solving challenges.
- Ability to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail.
- Natural relationship builder, skilled in engaging and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a commitment to enhancing performance and impact.
