Job Title: Principal Examiner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Examiner to join our team at Pearson Education Ltd.

About the Role:

The Principal Examiner will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of contracted units/modules/components, updating mark schemes/guidance, and monitoring the progress of supervisors/examiners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the timely delivery of contracted unit(s)/module(s)/component(s).
  2. Update the mark scheme/guidance before the pre-standardisation meeting, taking into account actual candidates' responses and feedback from supervisors/examiners.
  3. Mark an allocation of live candidates' responses, to quality assure as part of a supervisory role, where required.
  4. Monitor the progress of supervisors/examiners.
  5. Act as a senior point of escalation across the quality assurance process.
  6. Monitor and report to the Assessment team after standardisation and completion of marking, submitting a completed feedback form for each supervisor/examiner as directed.
  7. Support in awarding activities by writing reports to the Awarding Committee, recommending grade boundaries, participating in the awarding activities, and other areas where required.
  8. Submit reports on the series/candidate performance.
  9. Provide support and written responses to complaints where required.

Requirements:

  1. Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
  2. Provide examples of when you were asked to lead/support essential quality assurance activities.
  3. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and requirements.
  4. Report writing within a regulated industry.
