About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Collections & Recoveries team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our business intelligence services, working closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Operational Reporting: Design and develop operational reporting in SAS and SQL to drive key business processes and decision-making.
  • Contribute to Regulatory and Financial Reporting: Develop contributory data extracts for regulatory and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Maintain and Improve BI Services: Maintain and improve our departments' BI services, working with other teams across the business to deliver new and improved dashboards and visualizations.
  • Act as Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for questions relating to data sources, reporting, and individual metrics managed and utilized by the department.
  • Derive New Insights: Derive new and insight-rich information to the business through the integration and analysis of data from disparate sources across the Society.
  • Interpret Business Requirements: Interpret business requirements to produce high-quality technical solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
  • Document Designs: Document your designs to a high standard and in a way that can be interpreted by stakeholders of varying seniority and technical knowledge.
  • Measure Departmental Performance: Measure departmental performance and present the results with visualizations that will allow decision-makers and analysts to derive key business insights.
  • Provide Data and Expertise: Provide data and expertise to departmental and corporate projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Take Ownership of Deliverables: Take ownership of a portfolio of deliverables, prioritizing tasks and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Support Strategic Change: Support strategic change by evaluating the performance of new business strategies against operational targets.
  • Respond to Business Requests: Respond rapidly to business requests for data, exploiting the knowledge you'll be building of our departmental data sources.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Technical Competency: Have technical competency in at least one data handling or statistical application, ideally SAS or SQL.
  • Analytical Ability: Demonstrate excellent analytical ability with the capability to source, integrate, and interpret data from multiple sources.
  • Relational Database Knowledge: Possess a good understanding of relational databases from a querying and reporting perspective.
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to stakeholders.
  • Self-Motivated Approach: Take a self-motivated approach to prioritizing and completing objectives, with a proven track record of progressing personal development and keeping up with changes in technology.
  • ETL Process Experience: Have experience of ETL processes, with the ability to design and implement efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.

We would also like to see:

  • Financial Services Experience: Experience in the financial services sector, with a good understanding of the industry and its challenges.
  • Collections & Recoveries Knowledge: Knowledge of Collections & Recoveries main aims and processes, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a business intelligence context.
  • SAS Data Integration Studio and Enterprise Guide Experience: Experience using SAS Data Integration Studio and Enterprise Guide, with the ability to design and implement efficient data integration processes.
  • BSc Degree Education: A BSc degree educated, with a strong foundation in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
