About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated TB Nurse Specialist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Community TB Team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with tuberculosis and latent TB infection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a case manager for your own caseload, coordinating and providing care within the community, including visiting patients at home.
  • Maintain proactive and effective partnerships with patients and their families, acting as patient advocate and ensuring a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Provide expert nursing care to adult and children infected with and affected by tuberculosis, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care.
  • Support patients in adhering to difficult treatment regimens by assessing and developing strategies to overcome barriers to adherence.
  • Ensure patients receive high-quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs, and doctrines.
  • Direct, support, encourage, and advise clinical teams by providing specialist knowledge and advice in the care of patients within the area.
About Us

The Community Tuberculosis Team works across Lambeth, Southwark, and Lewisham to provide a multidisciplinary service for clients who are marginalized and have difficulty accessing primary care services. We provide centered individualized case management for our patients throughout their entire treatment, following them up periodically in our Nurse-led clinic, monitoring their specific blood test, CXR's, medications, side effects to the treatment, social issues that may affect their treatment, mental and emotional status that can also affect their adherence to their TB or latent TB treatment.

Person Specification
  • Essential qualifications: BSc/1st degree/equivalent qualifications or experience, completed or working towards TB Qualification, RGN/RN currently on the NMC UK register.
  • Desirable qualifications: driving skills.
  • Essential experience: completed or working towards SSSA+P, ability to supervise and motivate students and junior members of staff.
  • Desirable experience: flexible to work across various sites and some out of office hours.
  • Essential skills/knowledge: ability to work as an autonomous practitioner, computer literate, able to independently run nurse-led clinic for clients, and manage client care as appropriate.
  • Desirable skills/knowledge: previous experience of running audits with direct relevance to this clinical area, demonstrated experience of managing clinical services in this clinical area.
