Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our insurance tax division, with a focus on the life insurance market. This team delivers comprehensive tax advisory, compliance, and audit services tailored to the life insurance industry.

Our Insurance Tax team, part of the broader Financial Services tax group, consists of approximately thirty tax experts recognized for their strong reputation in the market, collaborating with prominent global and UK insurance firms. The team operates nationally, ensuring that client assignments are not limited by geographical location.

Our clientele encompasses a diverse range of insurance entities, including major UK insurers, international insurance organizations, life insurance providers, pension product firms, and specialist brokers.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with experienced partners and directors who are acknowledged leaders in their fields, offering significant opportunities for career advancement.

We are looking for motivated and knowledgeable professionals with a background in the life insurance sector and corporate tax experience relevant to life insurance entities.

The role involves overseeing the execution of various tax advisory, M&A tax, compliance, and audit projects within the sector. Additionally, it includes fostering client relationships as part of broader service teams and integrating tax considerations into relevant opportunities, as well as presenting tax solutions to clients.

A crucial aspect of this position is serving as a mentor, sharing knowledge, and coaching team members to enhance their expertise in life insurance taxation, ensuring our team is well-prepared to meet market demands.

This is a national role, and we welcome applications from candidates across various locations, with a preference for those based in major urban centers.

Qualifications and Skills

- Chartered Tax and/or Chartered Accountancy and/or equivalent legal/HMRC/international qualification is essential.

Experience and Background

The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Expertise in UK corporation tax for life insurance groups, taxation of life insurance products, or audit and accounting for life insurance businesses. A strong desire to learn and address new challenges. Sound judgment and the ability to assess risk issues appropriately. Proactivity in identifying and pursuing long-term business opportunities. A proven track record of leading complex projects with a focus on accountability and timely delivery. Effective communication skills at all levels, along with strong interpersonal abilities. High-level analytical skills and a commercial mindset for problem-solving. Ability to apply fundamental tax principles to identify potential issues and opportunities. Adaptability and dynamism in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. A commitment to coaching and developing junior team members. A keen interest in continuously enhancing knowledge of the life insurance market and related taxation.
Desirable qualifications include:
Experience with life tax compliance software. Knowledge of IFRS and/or UK GAAP tax accounting. Familiarity with key accounting and regulatory principles relevant to life insurers.
