We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Data Analyst to join our team at Assurant. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for preparing underwriting data in our general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with monthly reporting timetables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reconcile general ledger interfaces to cash transactions, profitability reports, and other reporting.
  • Create manual journal entries for non-interfaced business and for ledger corrections.
  • Prepare sales invoices and process vendor invoices following the correct approval and payment process.
  • Ensure period-end provisions for unearned premium, deferred expenses, outstanding claims, and IBNR have been correctly made and follow up with actuarial and underwriting staff.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded at the level of detail required for future reporting, including the correct use of general ledger fields and development of controls.
  • Create cash transfer requests with appropriate journals and reconcile insurance control accounts between departments.
  • Report IPT liabilities, reconcile IPT balances, and cash transfers.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliation for specified accounts.
Requirements
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) and a high level of technical proficiency.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Good accounting skills with a desire to develop new solutions.
  • Experience of PeopleSoft, Felita, or equivalent such as SAP.
  • Experience of AS400 desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience of the insurance industry.
