Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the culinary operation and provide support for the production team
  • Direct the preparation and duties of the duty chefs, commis chefs, beverage assistants, and other kitchen staff
  • Arrange on and off duties for all staff, ensuring a great work-life balance and managing cover for holidays
  • Ensure strict adherence to EHO guidelines and systems, monitoring sanitation practices to maintain high standards
  • Function work and planning, up to silver service level food
  • Cook and prepare food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
  • Work collaboratively with the team, supporting one another and communicating effectively
  • Follow recipe cards to prepare, cook, and serve a range of meals
  • Complete daily paperwork for due diligence
  • Assist with deliveries and stock checks
  • Place food orders and maintain kitchen records
  • Share responsibility with the Chef Manager/Catering Manager for checking, probing, and signing food deliveries
  • Monitor and record temperatures of fridges, freezers, hot cabinets, and serveries
  • Assist in daily and weekly kitchen deep cleans
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items served
  • Manage production and food levels to minimize wastage
  • Act as a trainer/coach for new team members to learn procedures and standards for all kitchen tasks
  • Undertake relevant training as required

Requirements

  • DBS and security checks to be completed
  • Previous experience in a similar contract catering environment
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or experience working in a busy kitchen environment
  • IT skills, great technical communication, and Microsoft packages experience
  • Good knowledge of food production methods, keeping up to date with new methods
  • Extensive knowledge of allergens and their impact/awareness
  • Impeccable leadership skills
  • Ability to organize time and workload
  • Desirable: driving license and access to own transport due to site location
