Position Overview

Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Energy Systems is seeking a Director of High Voltage Ventures to spearhead FlexGrid-HV, a dedicated global initiative concentrating on High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems (FACTS). These advanced technologies are crucial for the integration of renewable energy sources, enhancing grid reliability, and facilitating efficient long-distance electricity transmission, all of which are vital for a sustainable energy future.

In your role as the Director of High Voltage Ventures, you will guide our innovative global initiative centered on HVDC and FACTS. This position involves driving growth in these essential areas of the energy transition. You will strategically position FlexGrid-HV to establish DNV as a leading entity in the HVDC and FACTS markets. Your responsibilities will include defining the strategic direction, assisting clients with their current and future high voltage system advisory requirements, and fostering business expansion. Your leadership will be key in managing specialized resources, ensuring client satisfaction, and influencing the future of the transmission grid. Initially, you will oversee a global management team of 4 full-time employees, hold significant P&L responsibilities, and focus on enhancing the sales and delivery teams with both internal and external resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Articulate and execute the strategic vision, identifying and leveraging business opportunities based on client needs and market trends.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and utilize your extensive industry network to pinpoint trends and opportunities in the HVDC and FACTS sectors, differentiating our services and leading innovation efforts.
  • Engage proactively with existing and prospective clients to thoroughly understand their requirements, delivering customized solutions that provide substantial value.
  • Establish and nurture strategic alliances with key stakeholders and partners to enhance DNV's market presence and influence.
  • Implement effective quality assurance measures to guarantee the reliability and performance of HVDC and FACTS solutions.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and exceptional employee experience by fostering teamwork within the venture and across the organization.
  • Recruit, develop, and empower a high-performing team, creating a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Your strategic leadership will significantly influence the future direction of FlexGrid-HV, making a substantial contribution to DNV's overarching objectives of guiding the energy sector towards a sustainable and decarbonized future.

  • Educational Background: A Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, complemented by several years of substantial experience in the energy sector.
