Position Overview
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is pleased to announce openings for experienced Senior Radiologist roles focusing on Thoracic and Cardiothoracic imaging. We are seeking to enhance our dedicated and enthusiastic team within our expansive and progressive Trust. These positions are situated within the Adults' Radiology Directorate of the Imaging Division.
The ideal candidate will become part of a vibrant team comprising over 50 Consultant Radiologists in Adults' Radiology, delivering comprehensive imaging services to the local community and specialized services across a wider region.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role include supporting the extensive thoracic services at MFT. The successful candidate will collaborate with our respiratory and cardiac departments across various major facilities.
MFT serves as the regional thoracic center, providing a diverse array of thoracic services, including:
- Specialized Mesothelioma and Interstitial Lung Disease services
- Heart and Lung Transplantation Center
- National Aspergillus Center
- Lung Health Check Program aimed at early lung cancer detection
- Regional biopsy services
- Thoracic surgical interventions
- Regional Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and cardiac services
Our Trust has implemented an award-winning 'Rapid' pathway for thoracic oncology, which includes expedited CT reporting for patients suspected of lung cancer. The Wythenshawe site also provides a regional biopsy service to facilitate surgical and oncology pathways.
Acute and On-Call Responsibilities
This role includes a commitment to support acute radiology work and participate in on-call duties.
