This position includes a financial incentive for Band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, along with a relocation package, subject to specific terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Psychiatric Care Nurse, your primary duties will include:

  • Embodying our core values of transparency, openness, and continuous learning;
  • Managing daily operations and participating in regular meetings to assess and enhance patient care plans;
  • Establishing trusting relationships with patients while actively listening to their needs and concerns;
  • Administering medications accurately, including injections, and monitoring for any side effects;
  • Maintaining precise patient records and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members regarding care requirements;
  • Providing guidance and supervision to junior staff and nursing students to ensure safe and effective nursing practices;
  • Carrying out administrative tasks, including patient screening, assessment, and follow-up support;
  • Delivering compassionate care and support to patients and their families while working cohesively within the multidisciplinary team.

This role requires flexibility in working hours, including long shifts and night duties, as well as weekends and public holidays.

All your skills and training will be fully utilized and enhanced through clinical supervision and training opportunities, including a preceptorship program for newly qualified nurses and modules offered by local universities, as well as essential training and leadership development courses. A comprehensive two-week induction will allow you to shadow experienced colleagues across the unit.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current registration in mental health, learning disabilities, or adult nursing relevant to the role.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Understanding of the Mental Health Act (1983/2007).
  • Familiarity with the Mental Capacity Act (2005), including practical knowledge of relevant documentation and decision-making processes.
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
  • Ability to manage change and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Demonstrated capacity to enhance care through evidence-based practices.
  • Commitment to professional development relevant to the care group.
  • Proven ability to assess and manage clinical risks.
