Ceded Reinsurance – Senior Operations Specialist

Join a dynamic team within AXA Group, where the Ceded Reinsurance function plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing our reinsurance strategy. This strategic area is essential for managing all reinsurance treaties throughout their lifecycle, contributing significantly to our Risk Management efforts.

The Ceded Re Operations team is tasked with overseeing the administration of all Treaty Reinsurance business within AXA Group. This team is structured into four critical segments: Technical Operations, Technical Accounting, Data & Operations Reporting, and Central Operations.

This position is situated within the Ceded Reinsurance Technical Operations team, which is accountable for:

Managing Global Specialty Non-Marine Treaty, including claims identification and application of Ceded Reinsurance.

The selected candidate will be responsible for administering claims across various Non-Marine Specialty lines, including but not limited to:

  • Fine Art and Specie
  • Aquaculture
  • Accident and Health
  • Product Recall
  • Equine
  • WTPV
  • Commercial Bond
  • Sports & Leisure
  • Title
  • Crisis Management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate reflection of all Treaty placements within Ceded Re for Specialty Non-Marine in core systems, including appropriate XOL allocations in financial records.
  • Operate and manage Ceded reinsurance across three operational systems.
  • Collaborate with intermediaries to address account inquiries and sanction-related matters.
  • Work closely with our operations team in shared services to maintain effective communication and support.
  • Review and approve new policy setups in core systems.
  • Maintain regular communication with Placement and S&A teams, especially during renewal periods.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual reporting obligations.
  • Monitor tracking reports to guarantee timely issuance of Specialty quarterly accounts and notify management of any missed deadlines.
  • Oversee the quarterly accrual process for defined Specialty lines, ensuring accurate reporting to the Finance team.
  • Manage the Retro RI process to align applicable inward risks with QS accounts.
  • Maintain key control and business controls as outlined in the control narrative.
  • Participate in transformation and innovation initiatives.
  • Analyze inward claim movements to identify and apply ceded recoveries, ensuring proper calculations in underwriting systems.
  • Review Ceded comments from the shared services team to ensure accurate application of Ceded to Treaty.
  • Support the Ceded Claims team in managing commutation requests and complex claims.
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to claims requests.
  • Ensure all contractual reporting requirements are met and reviewed as part of weekly movement reports.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Accounting team to enhance the credit control process and improve cash flow.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Manager – Ceded Re Technical Operations.

Environment and Challenges:

The Ceded Re Operations team is responsible for maintaining accurate records of ceded reinsurance transactions across AXA Group's various business units, ensuring accountability for a significant volume of ceded premiums.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in claims management across multiple lines of business within the insurance sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Experience in virtual team collaboration.
