We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team at Sandberg, a leading provider of engineering consultancy, testing and inspection services in the UK. Our Construction Materials Department undertakes a range of mechanical and physical testing on construction materials, including concretes, aggregates, renders, mortars, stone, brick, screeds and flooring materials.

The Role

This role is to provide support on producing technical reports and coordinating the work of the department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing customer inquiries and interacting with customers to understand their requirements.
  • Providing detailed quotations for work, outlining approximate timescales.
  • Generating technical reports based on test results for sending to customers.
  • Planning jobs for the site team and arranging necessary logistics to ensure all necessary equipment and transportation is available.
  • Managing projects from inception to invoicing.
  • Ensuring the safety of colleagues by collating necessary information and preparing RAMS.
  • Ensuring clear communication internally and with other departments to progress jobs.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have strong knowledge of construction materials, including testing and ideally have a knowledge of fresh and hardened concrete. Report writing skills and a practical nature are essential, as is the ability to handle many live projects at once. Strong English language skills are important, both written and verbal. You should have:

· A degree or equivalent qualification in materials science or engineering.

· A background in construction materials testing and inspection, including a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

· The ability to draft and review technical reports.

· Knowledge of relevant BS/EN standards.

· A strong understanding of defects and deterioration mechanisms within concrete construction.

· Some management or supervisory experience.

· Good verbal and written communication skills.
