About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Lead to join our Social Security Programme Division as part of our digital transformation journey. As a Product Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring successful product delivery in an Agile project management framework.

You will be responsible for managing day-to-day product planning and delivery on behalf of Senior Product Managers, across a range of social security welfare benefit projects or support services and platforms. You will support the development and delivery of functionality to meet the needs of users, managers, and stakeholders.

You will create effective, prioritized product descriptions and delivery plans to meet user needs in a cost-effective way. You will interpret user research to make correct product decisions and use product management principles and approaches.

You will communicate credibly with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and support the management of an allocated budget.

About Us

The Social Security Programme Directorate has been created to design and implement devolved benefits for Scotland, enabling the delivery of 16.5 million payments per year, to an estimated two million people.

This vacancy sits within the Programme Management and Delivery Division and will support our various teams within the programme.

We offer a competitive civil service salary and additional digital pay supplement of £5000 per year (after qualifying period of 3 months), contributory pension package, generous leave allowance, flexible working arrangements, and learning and development opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day product planning and delivery on behalf of Senior Product Managers
  • Support the development and delivery of functionality to meet user needs
  • Create effective, prioritized product descriptions and delivery plans
  • Interpret user research to make correct product decisions
  • Communicate credibly with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the management of an allocated budget
Essential Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) Knowledge
  • Proven track record of working and delivering in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrable experience of creating and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders
  • Able to collate, organize, analyze, and use information to plan and deliver services, products, and technology improvements
  • Experience of working on complex projects with fixed and challenging delivery dates
