Building Surveyor

Location: Leeds

Salary: £34,000 (Dependent on experience)

Working Hours: 37 Hours per week

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a Building Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective maintenance planning and managing both planned and reactive building repair operations. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the safety of building users, the effectiveness of repairs and refurbishments, and compliance with current and upcoming legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute projects in alignment with RICS standards.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to clients, stakeholders, and fellow technical team members.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, client-focused projects and services that meet agreed requirements.
  • Advise senior management on potential business opportunities and collaborate with the marketing strategy.
  • Represent the company professionally to external clients and stakeholders.
  • Assist in client development initiatives.
  • Prepare specifications, drawings, and conduct risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment, and new building projects.
  • Develop tender documents, manage contracts, and oversee site monitoring duties to ensure compliance and quality control.
  • Conduct site surveys related to building conditions, schedules of condition, dilapidations, and planned maintenance; perform defect analysis and prepare technical reports.
  • Engage in conservation projects, investigating materials, repair processes, and innovative methods of repair.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Achieve fee earning targets and contribute to business plan objectives.
  • Travel to various sites and offices as required.
  • Perform duties appropriate to the role.
  • Foster continuous improvement and deliver high-quality products and services that adhere to quality standards.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the company's CSR strategy.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Professional membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or equivalent, with a commitment to achieving chartered status.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a Building Maintenance related field.
  • Current site card or willingness to obtain one immediately.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Building Regulations and related construction legislation.
  • Understanding of current construction health and safety legislation and asbestos-related risks.
