**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Caretaker to join our team at the Cathedral. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the Cathedral and its grounds, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for visitors and staff.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Maintain the exterior and interior cleanliness and tidiness of the Cathedral, either through personal efforts or by coordinating with external contractors.
* Serve as a member of the Cathedral's Property Committee.
* Act as one of the authorised key holders for the property.
* Provide advice on urgent or long-term maintenance needs requiring contractor involvement.
* Assist in the preparation and coordination of major services and concerts.
* Oversee the safety and security of the Cathedral, ensuring compliance with Diocesan Health and Safety guidelines.
* Perform small repairs and maintenance tasks, including work on electrical and heating systems, as well as flat roof inspection and upkeep.
* Liaise with contractors for more substantial repairs and improvement work.

**Requirements:**

* Experience in caretaking or a similar role, preferably within a similar setting.
* Knowledge of basic repair and maintenance tasks.
* Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations and the ability to implement them effectively.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Strong communication skills for liaising with contractors and being part of a committee.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative in identifying and resolving issues.
