Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader Chef to join our Retail Catering department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals to the highest standards for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Main Responsibilities
  • Menu Planning and Execution: Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs of our customers, ensuring that all meals are prepared and cooked to the highest standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of chefs to achieve exceptional food quality, safety, and presentation standards.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Maintain a high level of food safety and hygiene across all retail outlets, ensuring that all staff follow correct procedures and protocols.
  • Stock Management and Ordering: Manage stock levels, place orders, and maintain accurate records to ensure efficient and cost-effective food service operations.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer feedback and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, including the chef manager, deputy retail catering manager, and retail catering manager, to ensure seamless food service operations.

Person Specification
  • Essential: Significant experience working in a similar environment, IT literacy in Microsoft applications, working knowledge of catering ordering systems, and a good level of education.
  • Desirable: Working within an NHS environment, Level 3 food hygiene certificate, Health & Safety Training, and Manual Handling policy knowledge.
