Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide specialist advice and guidance on safeguarding adults, mental capacity, and deprivation of liberty safeguards, as well as lead on the Prevent agenda within our organization.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical expertise and consultancy on safeguarding adults, mental capacity, and deprivation of liberty safeguards to staff at all levels within the organization.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of training sessions on safeguarding adults, mental capacity, and Prevent, ensuring staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide person-centered care.
  • Work closely with other specialists, named professionals, and multi-agency partners to develop best practice and ensure consistency of safeguarding across the organization.
  • Provide professional leadership and assurance on safeguarding adults, mental capacity, and deprivation of liberty safeguards, ensuring adults at risk are protected from harm while respecting their human rights.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information to a range of professionals, analyzing information and situations to provide judgments on the best course of action.
  • Advise on duty of candor in safeguarding-related incidents and contribute to the Serious Case Review Panels or Learning Lesson Reviews.
  • Lead on the implementation of complex case review recommendations and raise key risks, issues, and concerns relating to safeguarding practice with senior management.
  • Design, develop, and deliver training sessions on safeguarding adults, mental capacity, and Prevent, tailoring training to meet the needs of participants and evaluating learning.
  • Participate in multi-agency research and evaluation, practice, and service development, and lead on providing annual team-based training to ensure staff have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Review Datix incident forms that reference safeguarding and make recommendations to the service on actions required.
  • Support the Head of Safeguarding Adults in the review and development of policies that relate to safeguarding and mental capacity.
  • Facilitate the provision of a helpful and respectful service to patients, relatives, and carers by providing an accessible and responsive point of reference on safeguarding adults, mental capacity, and deprivation of liberty safeguards.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Registered Nurse/Social Worker/Allied Health Professional
  • Educated or working towards degree level of expert practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development with relevant further qualifications

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Enquiry Officer and/or Safeguarding Adults Managers training
  • Teaching Qualification
