About the Role

Cloud Imperium Games Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Programmer to join our team in developing the next generation of cloud-based gaming technology. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing high-performance, scalable, and secure software systems that support our live service operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement Software Systems: Develop well-engineered, reliable, maintainable, and bug-free code to support live service operations and updates.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain and optimize gameplay systems, ensuring seamless integration and high-quality user experiences.
  • Follow Best Practices: Adhere to industry-standard development processes, coding standards, and best practices to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Document and Review Code: Document technical designs and peer-review code with other software engineers to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Work with QA: Provide necessary information to QA teams to facilitate thorough testing and address live service issues promptly.
  • Provide Ongoing Support: Offer ongoing support to internal customers for developed software, ensuring smooth operation and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Continuously update knowledge on state-of-the-art software engineering methods, practices, and technologies to stay ahead of the curve.
Requirements
  • Strong Programming Skills: Proficiency in C++ and experience working with large, shared codebases.
  • Mathematical Knowledge: Strong grasp of 3D mathematics applicable to maintaining and optimizing existing gameplay systems.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work well in a co-located yet collaborative team environment and effectively communicate technical solutions to both programmers and team members from other disciplines.
  • Live Service Experience: Experience with programming in a live service context, with a strong understanding of the challenges and requirements involved.
