Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional with a strong background in adult safeguarding to join our team. This role involves providing expert guidance on safeguarding adults and the Mental Capacity Act across our mental health services.
Location
This position is based in London, with expectations for regular on-site engagement within the community.
Key Responsibilities
The primary objective of this role is to ensure compliance with organizational, national, and local safeguarding standards. This includes:
- Offering specialized knowledge on adult safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), and related legislation.
- Providing consultancy support to staff at various levels within the organization.
- Leading initiatives to promote a culture of safeguarding and dignity across all services.
- Collaborating with other safeguarding professionals to enhance service delivery.
Main Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Delivering clinical expertise and guidance on safeguarding adults and MCA issues.
- Supporting staff in managing safeguarding concerns and inquiries.
- Ensuring that all services have effective safeguarding systems in place.
- Leading on complex safeguarding cases and providing professional oversight.
- Communicating sensitive information effectively to a diverse range of professionals.
- Analyzing complex situations to determine the best course of action for vulnerable adults.
- Advising on safeguarding incidents and ensuring compliance with Duty of Candour.
- Participating in serious case reviews and disseminating findings to improve practice.
- Collaborating with the Children’s Safeguarding Team to ensure best practices are followed.
- Designing and delivering training on safeguarding and MCA to staff.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies and legislation.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Professional registration as a Nurse, Social Worker, or Allied Health Professional.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and relevant qualifications.
- Experience in a community or specialist safeguarding role.
- Proven ability to teach and evaluate learning outcomes.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- In-depth understanding of safeguarding legislation and policies.
- Ability to work in a person-centered manner, respecting individual rights.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Capacity to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
