HEAVY GOODS VEHICLE MECHANIC

Ford and Slater, a prominent dealer group for DAF Trucks in the UK, is seeking a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic to join our dedicated team at our DAF Trucks Depot.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience as a Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic or in a related field such as Commercial Vehicles, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, or Automotive sectors.
  • Possession of a qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is preferred.
  • Alternatively, a time-served Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic will be considered.
  • Willingness to engage in breakdown assistance.
  • Proficient in completing necessary paperwork, including job cards and service records, accurately.

A general level of computer literacy is beneficial. A full UK driving license is required.

Key Responsibilities:

The role encompasses a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Servicing and maintaining a diverse range of trucks and vehicles.
  • Conducting fault diagnostics.
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT.
  • Performing mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Ensuring all repairs adhere to manufacturer guidelines and are executed safely.
  • Conducting road tests as necessary, in accordance with license restrictions.
  • Participating in any technical or development training provided.

Working Schedule:

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Week 2: Monday to Friday, 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
