Job Summary

Main Responsibilities

As an HR Business Partner, you will be responsible for developing effective working relationships with key stakeholders and providing senior HR expertise on a range of HR issues, including employee relations, recruitment and retention, attendance, change management, workforce planning, talent management, terms and conditions of employment, and policies and procedures.

You will also provide effective leadership for your HR sub-team, with a focus on empowerment and engagement, and have previous line management experience. You must have substantial HR expertise at a senior level within a large, complex organisation in a highly unionised environment.

About Us

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Our services are provided from three locations: The Countess of Chester Hospital, Ellesmere Port Hospital, and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital.

We employ over 6258 staff, including temporary bank staff, and provide acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services, and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire, as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a Graduate level CIPD (level 7) qualification or equivalent work-based knowledge and experience. You must have a working and detailed knowledge of employment legislation, equal opportunities, and best practice, including managing complex cases and exposure to solving employee relations issues.

Experience of taking the lead on projects, writing reports, and implementing recommendations is essential. You must also have experience of working with and influencing senior managers.
