Job Summary
The Kitchen Assistant/Domestic Cleaner is a dual role that requires the individual to assist the Health Centre Cook with food preparation, serving meals, cleaning, and maintaining the kitchen and designated areas within the Health Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for inpatients.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist the Cook with food preparation, including lunch and supper, and maintain high standards of food hygiene.
- Take meal trays to inpatients, clear away, and wash dishes, as well as general cleaning and tidying of the kitchen.
- Clean and maintain dishes, utensils, and crockery, ensuring they are ready for use again.
- Mop the floor and wipe surfaces, as well as cleaning, mopping, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, polishing, and dusting of all fixtures and fittings in designated areas.
- Use powered equipment for vacuuming, shampooing, scrubbing, and polishing of floor areas, ensuring all duties are carried out with hygiene and infection control in mind.
- Perform other duties as reasonably requested by the Senior Nurse Manager to ensure the safe and effective operation of the Health Centre.
- Commit to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and have a good understanding of safeguarding procedures.
- Understand and comply with procedures and legislation relating to confidentiality.
Working Pattern
- This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week, with working hours from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
- The role is for term-time only, plus 3 days before the boys start back at the beginning of each term and after they leave at the end of each term.
Requirements
- Previous experience of food preparation and/or cleaning in a work environment.
- Ability to communicate at all levels, with good time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative, achieve standards to performance criteria, and be careful, meticulous, and dexterous.
- Exceptionally high attention to detail, self-motivated, and proactive, with a flexible approach to the role.
- Amenable and courteous, with a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
