Research Scientist in Quantum Materials

About the Opportunity: Join the Commonwealth of Virginia and contribute to a vibrant academic environment at a prestigious institution focused on education and innovation. We are looking for Research Scientists specializing in ultrafast spectroscopy of two-dimensional quantum materials. This role is supported by the NSF Center for Research and Education in Quantum-leap Science and Technology (CREQS).
Key Responsibilities:- Engage in research related to ultrafast spectroscopy of 2D quantum materials
- Investigate the electronic, magnetic, and optical characteristics of materials
- Conduct pump-probe experiments
- Analyze optical susceptibilities in novel materials
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers
- Draft project reports, scientific publications, and technical presentations
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a PhD in Physics, Optics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Proficiency in nonlinear and ultrafast optics, spectroscopy of two-dimensional materials, and a solid understanding of condensed matter physics are essential. Excellent communication skills, mentoring experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively are highly valued.
