Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Fellow to join our team in the Heart Division and Arrhythmia Care Group. The successful candidate will work alongside our existing specialist registrars/fellows, providing clinical services in cardiology, including out-patient clinics, inpatient care, research, and audit.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical services in cardiology, in accordance with clinical and legal requirements
  • Participating in the cardiology ward and on-call rota
  • Supervising and training junior staff allocated to cardiology
  • Participating in audit within the department
  • Performing routine transthoracic echocardiography, routine right and left cardiac catheterisation, and interpreting echocardiograms
About Us

Royal Brompton Hospital is a specialist cardiothoracic centre, providing services for adults and paediatrics. We have a team of approximately 2,100 staff, 300 beds, 6 operating theatres, 5 catheter laboratories, and extensive imaging facilities. Our hospital has recently opened the Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit (BRU) in partnership with Imperial College London.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Prior experience in cardiac electrophysiology (minimum 1 year)
  • ST7 equivalence or post CCT level trainee
  • General cardiology training (evidence of completion)
  • Up to date Advance Cardiac Life Support training
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Evidence of understanding and application of clinical care

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice
  • Sound knowledge of cardiology
  • Proficient and efficient handling of medical problems
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication
  • Highly motivated and clear reason for wanting this position
