Job Overview

The successful candidate will be a senior leader in the field of cellular pathology, responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to the department. They will work closely with the Pathology Management Board and other senior stakeholders to promote effective governance and ensure the delivery of high-quality services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the cellular pathology department, ensuring alignment with the Trust's overall strategy and objectives.
  • Develop and implement operational plans to improve service delivery, quality, and patient outcomes.
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals, including clinical and non-clinical staff, to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of services.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including those related to quality, safety, and patient confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as pathology or healthcare management.
  • Recognized professional postgraduate qualification in management or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of post-qualifying and continuing professional development.
  • Experience of successful specialty operational management.
  • Ability to lead and manage change in a complex environment.
  • Robust negotiating and performance management skills.
  • Experience of strategic and service planning for a pathology specialty.
  • Skilled in implementing change programs.
  • Ability to translate complex systems, user requirements, and corporate priorities into robust implementation plans.
  • Experience of working at a senior level in an acute NHS hospital.
  • Understanding of the complex strategic environment and commissioning agenda.
