Position Overview

The successful candidate will assist the Facilities Manager in delivering a high-quality and efficient Facilities Management service across various Trust locations.

The role involves overseeing and managing maintenance contracts, as well as supervising both in-house teams and external contractors responsible for the upkeep, testing, validation, and repair of facilities and associated systems in accordance with Trust protocols.

Key Responsibilities

The individual will be tasked with:

  • Executing the role of Facilities Management Officer at designated Trust sites as required.
  • Collaborating closely with Facilities Managers and fellow Facilities Officers.
  • Coordinating and supervising repair, maintenance, and minor construction activities performed by both internal staff and external service providers.
  • Conducting audits and condition assessments of the facilities and related engineering services, producing comprehensive reports based on the findings.

The candidate will also be expected to manage departmental budgets effectively, demonstrating commercial awareness to enhance service delivery while balancing competing demands on resources.

On-Call Requirements

It is important to note that senior roles may require participation in an on-call rota, particularly for positions with significant operational responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Completion of an accredited training program, achieving at least an HND in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.

Desirable:

  • Certification from the Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH).
  • Membership in a relevant professional organization.
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).

Skills and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various professionals.
  • Capacity to work independently and take initiative.
  • Adaptability to training and changes in the work environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and dexterity.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of medical equipment maintenance policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and database management.

Additional Requirements

Essential:

  • Willingness to travel between different Trust sites.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to focus on detailed computer work and interpret complex technical drawings.

Desirable:

  • Possession of a valid UK driving license.
