Position: Baggage Systems Technician

Are you ready to take on the role of Baggage Systems Technician? We are seeking an individual who can assist us in transforming the possibilities within our Engineering division.

The Engineering team is dedicated to delivering essential services. They safeguard, maintain, and repair our critical infrastructure, from the power systems that energize our operations to the large-scale facilities that regulate the climate of the airport, as well as specialized equipment on the airfield.

What does the role entail?

You will be responsible for executing both scheduled and emergency maintenance tasks on all machinery and systems that comprise the baggage handling operations. Your work will ensure that all tasks are performed to the highest standards, maximizing operational efficiency. This position requires shift work, including nights and weekends.

This role is vital in supporting baggage operations, involving key components such as complex conveyor systems, sorting machines, carousels, scanners, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and IT-based control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned preventative and corrective maintenance, considering asset performance and operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate engineering and operational documentation to comply with business, regulatory, and manufacturer standards.
  • Actively engage in and support initiatives aimed at performance enhancement.
  • Uphold safety standards, including personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, completing mandatory training, and reporting any incidents or near misses.
  • Utilize IT systems as necessary for operational tasks.
  • Enhance skills and knowledge to effectively maintain and operate both existing and new assets, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Complete role-specific training as required.
  • Work in both public-facing and operational areas across the airport.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, as this role does not involve direct reports.
