About the Role
The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Matron to lead the operational management of patient flow in our Emergency Department (ED) and across the trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective flow of patients through our services, meeting capacity and demand for both elective and non-elective admissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to improve patient flow, reducing delays and improving patient experience.
- Lead the Clinical Site Team, overseeing the operational management of ED and patient flow services.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators, including ED performance, delivery of NHS targets, and national initiatives affecting patient flow.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement emergency care pathways, ensuring seamless transitions of care.
- Manage budgets, develop policies, and implement changes to improve patient flow and ED performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a senior manager in a healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of patient flow and ED operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex and challenging situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, including clinicians, managers, and external partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
