We are seeking a skilled Clinical Matron to support the Lead Nurse/Head of Patient Flow in ensuring sufficient bed capacity at all times. The successful candidate will work closely with the patient flow team to ensure timely admissions for emergency patients and accommodate elective admissions according to the right patient, right time, right place principles, while maintaining patient safety and quality.

About the Role

The post holder will provide line management and support to the patient flow team and hold key relationships with teams within the acute site, including community colleagues, on-call staff, Clinical Matrons, and Head of Operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in patient flow, managing a team, and understanding the demand and pressure of emergency and elective care. This is a permanent position that requires on-call roster participation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Nurse/Head of Patient Flow in ensuring sufficient bed capacity.
  • Work closely with the patient flow team to ensure timely admissions for emergency patients.
  • Accommodate elective admissions according to the right patient, right time, right place principles.
  • Provide line management and support to the patient flow team.
  • Hold key relationships with teams within the acute site.
