About the Role

The Data Protection Officer will be responsible for leading the implementation, monitoring, and management of the organisation's data protection policies, processes, and training initiatives. As the primary contact for regulatory authorities on data protection matters, the DPO will also provide guidance to teams across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the secure handling and storage of sensitive data, maintaining confidentiality and preventing unauthorized access.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address data protection queries and ensure all processes are compliant with data protection regulations.
  3. Develop and implement data protection strategies to ensure the organization's compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
  4. Conduct regular data protection audits and provide recommendations for improvement.
  5. Provide data protection training and awareness programs for employees.
  6. Act as a trusted advisor to the organization on matters related to personal data, including the creation of related documentation.
  7. Develop and maintain data protection policies and procedures.
  8. Ensure the organization's data protection practices are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in applying UK and EU data privacy laws.
  • Proven experience in a senior data protection or compliance role.
  • Expertise in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advising on data protection by design.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity and data privacy protocols to secure personal data.
  • Experience managing data breach responses and audits.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey complex data privacy principles to non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify and mitigate data-related risks.
  • Data privacy experience within the travel, hospitality, or technology sectors.
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based environments and their specific data protection challenges.
