Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Tax Director to lead our Private Client Tax team into its next phase of growth and success. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality Private Client Tax work, guiding and advising colleagues in all technical tax matters, and developing a robust business plan and service line strategy to capably manage all client work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Private Client Tax team, responsible for the delivery of high-quality Private Client Tax work.
- Guide and advise colleagues in all technical tax matters, using your experience to empower the team.
- Develop a robust business plan and service line strategy to capably manage all client work, including business development, workforce and succession planning, and the guidance and development of team members.
- Work closely with Partners and Directors in other service lines to make clients aware of relevant tax changes that affect them.
- Build meaningful relationships with clients, being seen as a trusted advisor, crucial to their interests.
- Skilfully manage client expectations, providing realistic fee quotes and regular updates on assignments.
- Effectively manage fees and time costs to achieve agreed recoverability targets.
- Minimise professional risk, including the appropriate documentation of services provided, obtaining second opinions, and following well-established internal risk management processes.
- Prepare comprehensive and skilfully tailored reports for all clients, irrespective of their background, knowledge, and experience.
- Be a Firm brand advocate, embodying our core values and principles in all activities, including external events, setting an example for aspiring people and peers.
- Provide thought-leadership to external and internal audiences via multiple channels, including social media, article writing, event organisation, and direct updates to clients and colleagues.
Requirements
- A tangible level of drive, appetite, and passion to become recognised as a leader in your field.
- The gravitas to quickly build lasting, meaningful relationships externally (with existing and prospective clients) and internally (with leading figures in the firm).
- A natural flair for business development, with the ability to build business plans that reflect innovative thinking and shrewd strategy.
- A superb track record and notable achievements of a technical and business nature in an already distinguished career within Private Client tax.
- Possess inspiring leadership qualities built on credibility, to assist in running a highly successful and efficient team that deliver first-class work and embody the values that underpin our identity as a firm.
- Be a motivating and empowering leader, developing and training your people in line with a sound succession plan.
- Demonstrate excellence in a range of 'soft skills' such as communication (written and verbal), presenting, innovative thinking, influence, and relationship-building, amongst others.
- Exemplary organisational qualities enabling quick prioritisation and delegation of a large workload without compromising on quality or speed of delivery.
- The ability to manage change, challenges, and adversity in a calm, practical, and admirable manner.
