Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a motivated and established Maintenance Lead Engineer to join our team at Tata Steel UK. The role of Maintenance Lead Engineer is critical to the business, supporting the achievement of business goals. You will manage a small engineering function, supporting operations by performing necessary breakdown repairs, leading preventative maintenance activity, and facilitating the promotion of engineering solutions for process improvement to ensure process availability, business objectives, and productivity targets are maintained.

You will effectively maintain all process and auxiliary equipment across the facility with an aim to improve uptime while reducing costs. The role will involve the reporting and recording of maintenance and repair details for all work activities, using the appropriate maintenance management and IT systems.

Requirements:

  • Qualified at a minimum NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a relevant electrical trade, ideally obtained through a recognised craft or modern apprenticeship scheme.
  • A competent leader/engineer with experience in service centre or manufacturing activities.
  • Demonstrable experience in line management, relevant engineering discipline, continuous improvement processes, preventative maintenance techniques, and dealing with contractors and suppliers.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Able to work without close supervision, yet under pressure and to tight timescales.
  • A sound electrical background and proven track record.
