Exciting Opportunity for a Dietitian

This is a fantastic chance for a skilled Dietitian to join our enthusiastic and experienced team of Diabetes Specialist Dietitians in an established Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and dietetic led clinics.

We are a dynamic Dietetic Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire, based just under 10 minutes from the M69/M6 interchange.

We are a department of nearly seventy Dietitians (across Coventry and Rugby Hospitals) with diverse specialities including gastroenterology, critical care, surgery, stroke, major trauma, oncology, renal, diabetes, specialist weight management, paediatrics and community nutrition support.

We also provide student placements to neighbouring universities in Coventry and Birmingham.

As a department, we are actively involved in research and audit, and we encourage staff to identify and attend courses relevant to their role and future development.

This role will sit within the Diabetes team, and the caseload will be varied, providing input to a number of specialist areas across the Trust.

You will have been working as a Dietitian for at least 12 months and be ready to apply what you have already learned while expanding your knowledge and skill further in a Trust that offers a breadth of diversity and experience.

This post can be either a band 5 to 6 development opportunity or band 6 from the start, depending on current level of diabetes experience.

The successful candidate will provide specialist dietetic advice on the dietary management of Type 1, Type 2, Gestational Diabetes, reactive hypoglycaemia and rarer forms of diabetes such as Type 3c, MODY and LADA.

We are primarily an outpatient service, working closely with our medical and nursing colleagues as part of the Diabetes MDT in both one to one clinic and group settings.

This role involves working across sites in Coventry and at St Cross Hospital in Rugby.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use enhanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist individual dietetic advice and treatment plans for patients who may present with multiple / complex clinical conditions.
  • Communicate nutrition and dietetic information in an understandable form to staff, clients and carers using teaching, motivation and counselling skills.
  • Plan and organise the clinical supervision of student dietitians on clinical placement.
  • Support teaching / nutrition education of peers and multi professional colleagues.
