Astute People is collaborating with a prominent company in the Energy from Waste sector to find a Maintenance and Engineering Operations Manager.

This role offers a competitive starting salary of up to £70,000 along with a performance-related bonus and additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled engineers and technicians to ensure optimal maintenance of all plant machinery, achieving the highest operational standards.
  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager and site engineers to facilitate plant enhancements, modifications, and upgrades.
  • Plan and oversee scheduled plant outages effectively.
  • Manage the budget for the maintenance department efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain out-of-hours maintenance support arrangements.
  • Ensure all defects are documented within warranty periods and collaborate with the project team to resolve any issues.
  • Supervise inventory and spare parts to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Oversee subcontractors engaged in ongoing operations and maintenance or capital projects.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture on-site, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies, and escalate any concerns to the appropriate management.

Qualifications:

  • Proven supervisory or managerial experience in a maintenance or engineering capacity within a power generation facility or similar industrial environment.
  • An engineering qualification such as an HND or HNC in a relevant discipline, preferably mechanical.
  • In-depth knowledge of pressure systems safety regulations, rotating equipment, and boiler operations.
  • Experience in budget management and staff training and development.
