Woman's Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Affairs/Policy Officer to join our Communications team. As a leading specialist mental health charity for women who have experienced domestic abuse, we are committed to helping women and their children overcome the devastating mental health impact of domestic abuse.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with our CEO, Senior Communications Manager, and Research and Data Team to design, manage, and deliver a cutting-edge policy agenda and stakeholder outreach programme. This will involve:

  • Developing and implementing effective policy strategies to influence public policy and ensure access to specialist mental health support for survivors of domestic abuse.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and other relevant organizations.
  • Creating and disseminating high-quality content, including reports, briefings, and other materials, to raise awareness of our work and promote our mission.
  • Providing strategic communications support to the CEO and Senior Communications Manager, including media relations, crisis communications, and reputation management.

Woman's Trust was originally established by a group of survivors and counselors to meet the gap in specialist mental health services designed by and for women. Our mission is to help women and their children live a life free from further harm and abuse. We are committed to providing high-quality services and support to women affected by domestic abuse, and we are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of policy and communications principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver high-quality content.
  • Strong relationships-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a similar role, preferably in the charity or non-profit sector.
