About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a reputable and prestigious educational establishment on a local level.

We are seeking someone with experience of general maintenance along with gardening skills. The ideal candidate will also have a valid driving license and be willing to drive a minibus (training given). The role is full-time, 52 weeks a year (with holiday) and will involve working Monday to Friday. Part-time hours can also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to and liaise with the Head of Maintenance regarding all issues related to the maintenance and administration of the estate.
  • Carry out all building and site repairs, ensuring health and safety compliance.
  • Conduct fire risk analysis and compliance checks, as well as security checks.
  • Perform plumbing, COSHH, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and order parts, chemicals, and stock in accordance with the budget and purchasing procedures.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Undertake regular checks, including legionella flush, carbon-monoxide checks, window safety checks, blind cleat safety checks, smoke alarm battery checks, fire extinguishers and fire blanket checks.
  • Maintain and check equipment safety, including door closures, ladders, and workshop facilities.
  • Assist the groundsman with gardening duties.
  • Perform carpentry, painting, decorating, plumbing, and minor electrical work as required.
  • Drive the minibuses.
  • Be out of hours duty phone holder on a rota basis to be agreed.
  • Work with other members of the team in a co-operative and helpful manner.
  • Deliver any reasonable request by the Facilities Manager or the Head of Maintenance.
Requirements
  • Very good maintenance skills (Electrical certification an advantage).
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and safety.
  • The ability to work independently and also as part of a team.
