Maintenance Technician

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a reputable educational establishment, utilizing your maintenance skills to ensure the upkeep of the site.

The ideal candidate will have experience in general maintenance, with a focus on gardening skills and the ability to drive a minibus (training provided). The role is a full-time position, working 52 weeks a year, with part-time hours also considered.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting to and liaising with the Head of Maintenance regarding all issues related to the maintenance and administration of the estate.

Duties will include:

  • Carrying out all building and site repairs
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance
  • Conducting fire risk analysis and compliance
  • Managing security, plumbing, COSHH, and general maintenance
  • Assisting with preventative maintenance
  • Ordering parts, chemicals, and stock in accordance with the budget and purchasing procedures
  • Maintaining and ensuring compliance with all appropriate health and safety regulations
  • Undertaking regular checks, including legionella flush, carbon-monoxide checks, window safety checks, blind cleat safety checks, smoke alarm battery checks, fire extinguishers and fire blanket checks
  • Maintaining and checking equipment safety, including door closures, ladders, and workshop facilities
  • Assisting the groundsman with gardening duties
  • Performing carpentry, painting & decorating, plumbing, and minor electrical work as required
  • Driving the minibuses
  • Being out of hours duty phone holder on a rota basis
  • Working with other members of the team in a co-operative and helpful manner
  • Delivering any reasonable request by the Facilities Manager or the Head of Maintenance

The ideal candidate will have excellent maintenance skills, a full, clean driving licence, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and safety, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
