About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Private Credit Lawyer to join our Global Legal Team in London. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal support and advice to our Private Assets business, working closely with our European and APAC deal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day support to our Private Credit, Capital Solutions, Portfolio Finance, Private Placement, and Infrastructure deal teams on issues related to investments in middle market loans, capital solutions, portfolio investments, infrastructure loans, and private placement notes/bonds.
  • Advise on key legal and commercial issues, negotiate term sheets, and assist with executing transactions.
  • Provide internal legal advice to new and existing Barings investment funds, including drafting and negotiating investment management agreements.
  • Work closely with external counsel on matters relating to the Private Credit business, such as capital call or fund leverage facilities for the Barings investment funds.
  • Build relationships with and work alongside teams within the business, including Product Management, Distribution, Operations, Compliance, and Risk functions.
Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer with 5+ years of PQE experience, including recent experience working in leveraged loans.
  • Experience with credit documentation, including grids, term sheets, and commitment letters.
  • Familiarity with Loan Market Association standard documents and structuring and regulatory considerations in Europe.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize work according to urgency and importance.
