Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join our Power Systems Core Delivery Team (CDT) in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing advanced power systems and topologies, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop advanced power systems and topologies, including ACDC and DCDC switched mode power supply design.
  • Provide technical and managerial support to the Engineering, Project, and PSU CDT Management Teams.
  • Support the development of power-related tasks on other projects, including prototyping, design verification, and production support.
  • Creation and review of documentation, including Outsource Procurement Specifications, Statement of Work, Circuit & System Simulations, and associated White Papers, Test Reports, and Test plans.
  • Work closely with other CDTs and the Design for EMC Team to create Earth & Grounding diagrams, EMC Plans, and Design Stage Review material.
  • Knowledge sharing with other members of the PSU CDT.
  • Provide design and domain knowledge support to Projects, CDTs, Suppliers, Workshare Partners, and Customers.
  • Review System Requirements and partitioning into Power System Requirements, Sub-partitioning into SRI Requirements.
  • Support other members of the CDT, including schematic capture, component selection and derating, and simulation of power supply circuitry.
  • PSU Topology Analysis.
  • Review of current and emerging Energy Storage materials.
  • Review of current and emerging Energy Conservation techniques.
  • Review of how the Power System impacts the performance of the Generator.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the design, manufacture, test, and integration of PSUs and Power Systems.
  • Minimum of HND in Engineering or Systems or related technical discipline.
  • Knowledge in ACDC and DCDC switched mode power supply design, control and interface circuitry, and electrical power systems.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics, simulation software (Simetrix, LT Spice, Matlab), and fault diagnosis to component level.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Visio, MS Project, and Work Package Management.
