About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Naval Architect to join our team at Babcock International Group. As a Principal Naval Architect, you will play a key role in developing and leading technical solutions for our complex shipbuilding programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead technical solutions from concept to final vessel acceptance.
  • Lead and develop design teams through the design lifecycle, ensuring collaboration and effective project execution.
  • Develop innovative designs and processes, implementing efficient outfitting solutions and producing substantiation reports for tasks undertaken.
  • Support team member growth, fostering a culture of learning and development.
  • Produce technical reports and documentation, maintaining high quality and adhering to standards.
  • Contribute to the wider engineering capability group, participating in diverse projects for career growth.

Requirements

  • Experience in the naval/marine industry and experience of using a variety of naval architecture packages and extensive knowledge of design packages, e.g., ship stability, 2D & 3D CAD.
  • Either Degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an Engineering discipline with extensive practical design experience in outfitting and ship design will be considered.
  • You will be a member of a relevant institution (e.g., RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and either hold Chartered engineer status or working towards Chartered engineering status and be considered a subject matter expert in your field.
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
