A prominent logistics organization is in search of a skilled and proactive Heavy Goods Vehicle Testing Centre Supervisor to manage its operations in Washington, Northumberland.

This position is ideal for a candidate with substantial experience in overseeing workshops that service or repair Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCVs), and Light Commercial Vehicles.

Reporting directly to the Logistics Director, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth functioning of the testing centre and workshop, fostering business expansion, and upholding outstanding customer service standards.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise daily activities of the testing centre and workshop, emphasizing efficiency and productivity.

2. Drive business development and sales strategies to broaden service offerings.

3. Manage financial planning and cost control to meet budgetary goals.

4. Uphold rigorous health and safety protocols across the facility.

5. Cultivate and maintain robust customer relationships to guarantee effective fleet upkeep.

6. Organize and allocate workloads, including management of ATF lanes.

7. Collaborate effectively with the DVSA.

8. Negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive rates on parts and services.

9. Ensure the effective operation of invoicing systems.

Requirements:
1. Demonstrated supervisory or managerial experience leading a team of technicians in an HGV workshop setting.

2. Experience with commercial fleets, including HGVs, PCVs, and light vehicles.

3. Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications or equivalent hands-on experience in HGV repair and maintenance.

4. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.

5. Flexibility and adaptability in managing daily operations.

6. Proficient IT skills are essential.

7. An HGV Class 1 Driving Licence is preferred but not mandatory.
