Kent County Council is seeking a dedicated Community Development Specialist to contribute to the growth and enhancement of services for children, young people, and families within the Folkestone and Hythe District.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with partners and community organizations to expand local Family Hub networks and shape Family Hub services through community engagement and co-design initiatives.

  • Develop and Strengthen Community Networks: Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including community organizations, schools, and local businesses, to foster a robust network of support for families within the Family Hub framework.
  • Empower Communities Through Engagement: Facilitate meaningful community engagement activities and co-design initiatives that center on the needs and aspirations of children, young people, and families.
  • Cultivate Volunteer Opportunities: Create engaging volunteer opportunities that empower parents, carers, and young people to lead and participate in various Family Hub activities, fostering a sense of ownership and community involvement.
  • Promote Community Empowerment: Utilize skills and strategies that promote community empowerment, address inequalities, and encourage active participation from all members of the community.
  • Exceptional Communication and Collaboration: Demonstrate exceptional organizational abilities and effective communication skills when interacting with children, families, and diverse community partners.
  • Plan, Deliver, and Evaluate: Work both independently and as part of a team to plan, deliver, and evaluate participation and engagement opportunities within the Family Hub framework.
