Senior Legal Counsel Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Wealth team within Aviva's UK legal function. The successful candidate will provide commercial, first-class legal advice to Aviva's UK Wealth businesses.

About the Role

The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice across Aviva UK Wealth business units, including workplace and individual pensions, investment and savings products. The role will involve reviewing, drafting, and advising on customer-facing contractual documentation and product literature, as well as negotiating contracts and providing input into Board and Committee papers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide commercial, first-class legal advice to Aviva's UK Wealth businesses
  • Review, draft, and advise on customer-facing contractual documentation and product literature
  • Negotiate contracts and provide input into Board and Committee papers
  • Manage key risks and issues to the Head of Legal and General Counsel of UK IWR
  • Build solid relationships with key stakeholders within Wealth and the wider Aviva group
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor and/or Barrister with strong experience of working in the Financial Services market
  • Proven negotiating experience and relationship management skills
  • Strong commercial and strategic mind-set with the ability to react and adapt to change
  • Experience and/or knowledge of workplace and/or individual pensions or investment and/or savings products

  • National salary circa £80,000, London salary circa £95,000
