Overview
We are thrilled to present an opportunity for a Community Engagement Coordinator to become part of our dedicated team.
In the role of Community Engagement Coordinator, your primary focus will be on fostering connections with individuals. You will play a crucial role in encouraging participation and ensuring inclusivity at National Trust locations. Collaborating with both staff and volunteers, your efforts will significantly contribute to the Trust's mission of preserving and nurturing places where both people and nature can flourish for generations to come.
Work Environment
Reporting to the Senior Collections & House Officer, you will be an integral member of a passionate team of House staff, alongside a vibrant and active volunteer community. The environment is dynamic, featuring exhibitions and seasonal events, along with a renowned collection. The last owner, a notable figure in Edwardian society, has left behind a legacy that captivates visitors, who enjoy learning about the historical gatherings and the collection's rich stories. Our volunteers are essential in sharing these narratives, and you will serve as a key liaison for our extensive group of House volunteers, including guides and performers. You will lead daily briefings for volunteers and be their primary contact during their time on-site.
Work Schedule
Your role will require some availability during public holidays and one weekend every three weeks as part of a rotating schedule. Flexibility will be necessary to accommodate annual leave and occasional evening events.
Responsibilities
In this visitor-oriented position, you will assist in managing house volunteers, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere for them. Your duties will include leading daily briefings, organizing schedules, and addressing inquiries. Supporting the Senior Collections and House Officer, you will help onboard and mentor new volunteers, regularly checking in with them and facilitating training sessions. As a member of the House Team, you will engage in operational tasks, assisting with opening and closing procedures as well as daily maintenance activities. You will also collaborate with the broader team of employees and volunteers, stepping in as needed.
Candidate Profile
We invite applications from individuals who possess:
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service abilities
- An understanding of the distinction between staff and volunteers, with a passion for the advantages of volunteering
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent organizational and coordination capabilities
- Familiarity with IT systems, including Microsoft Office
- A flexible mindset and a positive attitude towards change in a fast-paced environment
- Good manual dexterity and the ability to work from heights safely.
