About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Work Area Manager to join our team at the Chelmsford Mail Centre. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of 25 full and part-time employees, managing operations in a variety of manual and automated areas within the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 25 employees, providing guidance, support, and coaching to ensure high performance and productivity.
  • Manage operations in manual and automated areas, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Collaborate with the Shift Manager to provide a high-quality service to our customers and ensure all operational targets are met.
  • Develop and implement health and safety initiatives, increasing efficiency, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support the management team in achieving business objectives and driving performance.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a logistics or parcel distribution environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate team members.
  • Target-focused with a track record of improving performance and achieving KPIs.
  • Experience of introducing change and successfully leading people through change.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to identify trends and develop solutions.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders to achieve business benefits.
