Job Overview

Position: Senior Engineer specializing in Pressure and Vacuum Systems

Location: United Kingdom (Travel to various manufacturing sites required)

Contract Duration: 18 months, Inside IR35

Role Summary: Scantec Recruitment is seeking a skilled Senior Engineer with SC clearance to join a prominent player in the nuclear sector. This role involves collaborating with the Pressure Vessel Technical Authority, as part of a dedicated team, to oversee the design, production, and certification of specialized Pressure and Vacuum equipment.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver expert technical guidance for the validation of custom pressure and vacuum apparatus (both static and dynamic).
  • Examine and confirm design specifications, engineering schematics, and calculations.
  • Perform conformity evaluations at contractor facilities throughout the UK.
  • Address design and manufacturing challenges in collaboration with both internal and external partners.

Candidate Profile:

  • Education: HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, with preferred associate membership of a relevant institution or chartered status.
  • Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and Pressure Equipment Regulations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in the design and production of pressure and vacuum systems, with familiarity with applicable standards (e.g., PD5500, ASME III, ASME VIII Division 1 2&3, BS EN 13445, BS EN 13480, ASME B31.3).
  • Quality Management: Background in developing and endorsing Quality Control Plans and Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Analytical Competence: Capability to conduct independent assessments, including Pressure Vessel Code calculations, Fracture Mechanics, Fatigue Analysis, and Finite Element Analysis.
