(c4b2befb) Job Description Below are the details outlining the purpose and general responsibilities of the role, which will provide insight into the tasks involved. It is advisable to refer to this when preparing your application for the position. Job Purpose I am a friendly and sociable woman in my early 60s, who is a cat enthusiast, seeking a female Personal Assistant to assist me with various activities, including personal and household support. As a wheelchair user, I face several health challenges and have limited mobility. Additionally, I have recently been diagnosed with autism, so it is essential that my PA has relevant experience and training in this area. Location I reside in a sheltered housing community with my partner and our cat. The candidate must be comfortable with various forms of wildlife, as we enjoy having 'visitors' from the outdoors. I appreciate going out for shopping and social activities, and I would like my PA to accompany me in these endeavors. Current Needs - General personal care (assistance with washing, dressing, etc.); I use pads for incontinence.
- Support for outings; the candidate must have their own vehicle that can accommodate my wheelchair and assist with transfers.
- Due to my diabetes, I require a full hot lunch (not a microwave meal), and I welcome my PA to join me for meals during work hours. Occasionally, I may need assistance with feeding on particularly challenging days.
- An understanding of autism and appropriate training is crucial. Person Specification Below are the essential skills, competencies, and qualities required for this role. My assessment of these, both during the application process and at interview, will be the primary factor in determining your success. Please consider these when submitting your application. Due to the personal care aspect of this role, a female carer is preferred.
- Experience with wheelchair users
- Knowledge of autism
- Health and hygiene skills
- Domestic and cooking abilities
- Strong communication skills and a good sense of humor
- Animal lover
- Understanding of safeguarding
- Driver with own vehicle and appropriate insurance coverage Summary Terms and Conditions - The pay rate for this position is £12.50 per hour.
- Reimbursement for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
- Hours and work schedule: 16 hours weekly, 2 X 8-hour days. Days and times are flexible and can be negotiated.
The position is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
