About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Regional Energy Planning Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of energy planning in the South East region.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of Regional Energy Strategic Plans (RESPs) for the South East region. This will involve working closely with stakeholders, including local government, gas and electricity networks, and other local actors, to understand their needs and priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement RESP methodology for the South East region
  • Provide subject matter expertise on energy system planning and interfaces with internal NESO and external stakeholders
  • Define and lead on regional energy strategic planning work packages
  • Represent NESO's regional energy planning function at strategic level and deputise for the regional manager
  • Engage with key regional stakeholders to understand their views and requirements
  • Design and deliver workshops and engagement activity with the Regional Board, working groups, and other regional stakeholders
  • Produce and deliver clear, concise reports and slide packs
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in energy planning and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience within the energy sector, including technical energy knowledge
  • Knowledge of energy project development lifecycles and the 'whole energy' system
  • Experience of working with or within Local Authorities and/or energy distribution companies
  • Knowledge and experience of strategic critical thinking and ability to consider strategic frameworks and concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of communicating with, and influencing, internal and external stakeholders at a range of levels
